What is CMAA2026?
CMAA2026 is the Construction Management Association of America’s annual conference and trade show. It brings together capital program owners, program and construction managers, project controls teams and the technology firms that serve them.
The 2026 programme covers risk across delivery methods, claims in volatile project environments, accelerated delivery, and an opening plenary on AI versus human judgement. The closing plenary, Straight from the Owners, puts owner organisations on stage to talk about what is ahead for their capital programs.
The expo hall sold out this year. Unlike a technology conference, the room is not organised around a single platform. It is the owners and the firms delivering for them, which makes it one of the few weeks in the year where the same problem gets described from both sides in the same corridor.
Why OnIndus is attending
Most of the owners we work with already have the systems. A PMIS, an ERP, a scheduler, a document platform. Almost nobody describes a missing product.
What they describe instead comes down to three things:
- Agreement. Finance holds one number, the CM holds another, facilities is weeks behind both. The monthly review turns into a reconciliation instead of a decision.
- Adoption. The configuration is usually sound. Half the project teams still work around it, because nobody was named accountable for adoption after go-live.
- Defensibility. Leadership gets a number because someone assembled it over three days, not because the data rolls up on its own. That becomes a real problem the first time an auditor asks.
None of these are software problems, and none of them get fixed by a licence renewal. They are execution, integration and governance problems, and they are the work OnIndus does.

Getting the numbers to agree. Standardising how the work runs, then connecting the systems underneath it, so the figure in the board pack is the figure sitting in the system.
Adoption after go-live. Why platforms get configured well and used badly, and what a named owner for adoption actually changes.
Audit-ready capital programs. Delivering the work is half the job. Proving you delivered it, to a board, a grantor or the public, is the other half.
Preparing for AI. AI needs structured data, connected systems and processes that run the same way twice. Most capital programs have none of the three. The groundwork that fixes that is the same groundwork that fixes portfolio reporting today.
Worked examples rather than brochures. Real programs with real numbers, including the parts that did not go smoothly.
