What Kahua Owners Told Us at Enabling Innovation 2026

Kahua Campign

Three days of conversations with capital program leaders in Alpharetta, and the challenges that kept coming up.

Intro

Last week the OnIndus team joined Kahua’s Enabling Innovation 2026 in Alpharetta, Georgia. We met owners from cities, transit agencies, universities, school districts and health systems. Some were weeks into Kahua and others had years of projects in the system.

Their programs were different, but the conversations kept coming back to the same few themes.

1. Go-live is where the real work starts

Several owners we met are new to Kahua. They are live with a handful of projects, often with one admin carrying the whole setup. The decisions made in this first year around workflows, cost codes and permissions get copied into every project that follows.

2. Integration is now the top request

Connecting Kahua to ERP systems such as Oracle and Workday came up more than any other topic. Owners want budgets, commitments and payments to match across systems without manual reconciliation.

3. Data migration doesn’t stop at launch

Many owners are still bringing projects across in batches. Each batch is a chance to clean up data and standards, or to carry old problems forward.

4. Adoption still makes or breaks the system

Owners told us the platform is rarely the hard part. Getting every team, including outside vendors, to work the same way in Kahua is.

5. Owners want an advisor, not just a configurator

We heard from teams looking for a different kind of partner. They want one who starts with how their capital program runs and builds the system around it.

From our panel

At EI26 we hosted capital leaders from Clemson University and the University of Illinois System on moving from fragmented tracking to real-time visibility, compliance and control. (Add one or two takeaways from whoever ran the panel. I haven’t invented any.)

What’s next for Kahua

On stage, Kahua announced a strategic growth investment from Bain Capital to support its next phase of AI and product innovation. More owners on the platform means more programs facing the same questions above.

How OnIndus helps

OnIndus is an advisory-led partner for capital program owners and Kahua’s 2023 Partner of the Year. We help owners set up Kahua around how their program actually runs. That covers integrations and migration, admin support and training, and the reporting leadership relies on.
